by Elizabeth Bechtold, President’s Council
In September, the President’s Council ran its fall Give Back Initiative in partnership with The Center for Family Justice. When Near & Far Aid volunteers got word that the Center’s food pantries were running dangerously low due to the ongoing effects on the pandemic, our President’s Council quickly organized a drive to stock their pantry with food, baby wipes, and diapers. The Center for Family Justice, located in Bridgeport, serves to help victims and survivors of sexual and domestic violence, human trafficking, and child abuse in Fairfield County. Their important work needs to be supported, and Near & Far Aid was thrilled to help this vital Center in our community. Our volunteers and Board members filled an SUV with donations and in just two weeks time, we restocked their pantry. Thank you to the Center for Family Justice for helping those in crisis in our community and for changing lives.
The Center for Family Justice is one of the 100+ local agencies that Near & Far Aid’s fundraising and granting efforts support each year. We believe in their mission to break the cycle of abuse and violence – domestic, sexual and child – by providing services that create hope, restore lives and drive social change through education and community collaboration.
