Near & Far Aid is proud to support the amazing work that Emerge Inc. does in the local community.
Based in Stratford, CT this organization is rooted in a vision of a world in which every home is safe,
where violence does not occur and where each family can thrive.
Emerge provides safe, affordable housing and continuing support services to women and children
referred to them from domestic and homeless shelters. They provide safe housing in the two multi-
family homes the organization owns in Stratford. These homes currently host 5 women and 8
children. When their residents move on to permanent housing, Emerge provides follow up services
to continue supporting them.
Emerge’s unique approach was started and continues to be led by a woman who was a victim of
domestic violence herself! They give families the time needed to deal with and accelerate the
healing process from the trauma they’ve endured. They’ve recently celebrated 25 years of
empowering women with the knowledge of how to avoid an abusive relationship as well as teaching
children how to avoid similar patterns of abuse. They have provided services to over 250 women
and children since inception.
