Standing room only crowd for Near & Far Aid’s premiere “One Night Band” event

October 21st, 2010

Over 250 people descended on the Fairfield Theatre Company on Thursday, Oct. 21 to attend Near & Far Aid's premiere “One Night Band: A Concert and Cocktails for a Cause.” Light bulbs were flashing as guests walked the red carpet to enter the splashy pre-concert party tent filled with a festive crowd of Near & Far Aid supporters, guests and sponsors. Channel 8 / WTNH’s popular newscaster Kristen Cusato kicked off the concert. On stage, Band Together put on an electrifying night of dance music with guest performers -- Beehive Queen Christine Ohlman, world Soul Diva Gisele Jackson and pop vocalist Frank Simms. A surprise performance by “Infinite Roots” a CT - based African drum band in colorful traditional costumes captivated the audience with their rhythmical sounds.

“Near & Far Aid rocks!” expressed Jerry Vigorito, founder of Band Together. The standing room only crowd danced from beginning until end.

The Near & Far Aid team was equally pleased with the success of its new venture with Band Together. “With One Night Band, our goal was to create an event that would appeal to the whole community,” said Near & Far Aid President, Patsy Devine. “Our Chairs for the event, September Sirico and Lindsay Francis, did an outstanding job. We are thrilled that everyone who came had such a good time supporting our cause.”

Near & Far Aid would like to thank its generous sponsors for their contribution to One Night Band. A signature cocktail the sidewinder - vodka drink by Tito’s Handmade Vodka was a hit with the crowd, beer from Harpoon Brewery, wine from Greenfield Grapes & Hops, appetizers by Garelick & Herbs and Stew Leonard's, as well as the delicious organic burgers served by The Filling Station, New Canaan, CT added to the festive atmosphere of the party tent. The 7500 square ft. Harman International mobile showroom was also on site for guests to experience the latest in sound and home theatre technology. As a long-time sponsor, Land Rover of Milford deserves special acknowledgment for their continued support of Near & Far Aid and Greg & Tony Salon of Westport for helping us present such a special event.
