Fine Art Portrait Photo Exhibit Celebrates Life with a Focus on Need

"NEARLY THERE ... FAR TO GO" Photo Exhibit featured at Southport Galleries

Southport, Jan. 29, 2010

Many people in Fairfield County associate Near & Far Aid with the annual events the organization holds, The Golf Classic, The Designer House Tour and The Spring Gala at Mitchell's. These events generate revenues of almost $1M annually which Near & Far Aid distributes to approximately 100 charity organizations in Fairfield County.   In this time of great need Near & Far Aid decided to document its positive impact on local charity organizations in a special exhibit of photographs taken by local Westport photographer Pamela Einarsen.

The exhibit titled "NEARLY THERE....FAR TO GO" features over 20 photographs taken at a number of agencies supported by Near & Far Aid who are working with those in critical need.   "Pamela's ability to capture the beauty of the human spirit made her the perfect choice to work with our organization" according to Near & Far Aid President Patsy Devine.  "We wanted not only to provide a glimpse of the challenges faced by those in less fortunate circumstances but also share the joy that these organizations bring to the lives of these individuals with our funding," Devine added.  Near & Far Aid initiated the project to generate awareness of the need to continue supporting local charities and add a ‘human element' to the spirit of giving.

An award winning photographer, Einarsen's work has been featured in the New York Times as well as local magazines   Einarsen felt honored to be chosen to document the work of Near and Far Aid.   She said, "The people that I have met have shown me, that even in disadvantaged circumstances, there is a tenacity of the human spirit that survives. I am grateful to the adults and children that I photographed for their openness, in sharing their inner selves."  She also added "through the generous support of Near and Far Aid, a sense of community and hope exists within these agencies, that is crucial to our world today."
